Hellmaw: New Faces

Short Story

Some daemons take on human guise by shifting their shape, while others chose a more…personal approach. “New Faces,” the prequel short story to the Hellmaw novel, Dragon Dreams, tells how one daemon takes on the semblance of Derrick Penningly, Princeton student and son of rich and powerful humans. But climbing the social ladder turns out to be more than this daemon bargained for.

The exciting short story from the author of Hellmaw: Dragon Dreams!

About the Setting

Hellmaw is Ed Greenwood’s, creator of Forgotten Realms®, darkest setting to-date. You can start the series with any book, so consider starting here! Arc 1 of Hellmaw focuses on close-up, character-driven stories about interpersonal relationships, centered on the Araurra, daemon exiles thrust into our modern real-world Earth and finding their feet/roles/niches on our turf, perhaps learning they are being hunted. And perhaps being the hunters.

About the Author

Born in Oregon, son of a Commercial Fisherman, and in love with the sea, fantasy, and science fiction at an early age, it seemed that writing nautical fantasy would be a no-brainer.  It took me a while to get there, but my Scimitar Seas novels with Dragon Moon Press won me many national awards, giving me the chops to pitch to larger publishers.

I have also a successful fantasy series of “magical assassin” novels, in the Weapon of Flesh trilogies (still running) and non-nautical stories coming out in Hellmaw.
